Balcombe - Ardingly
Even though it was pouring with rain and the forecast was for gales we just
couldn't sit indoors another day, so we got the train to Balcombe and did a walk
in the area that we have done several times. It took us around the reservoir,
past Ardingly college, under the spectacular viaduct and through numerous farms.
The weather wasn't too bad in the end and we had a great walk.

Part of Ardingly Reservoir. We watched an industrious
Great-Crested Grebe catching a fish a minute which he took back to his mate
and their chicks.

Everywhere seems so lush and full of life. There were baby
birds everywhere.

Common Spotted Orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii) growing in
the verge.
