Old Lodge nature reserve
We had another evening visit to Ashdown Forest. We first had a fleeting visit to
the area near the visitors centre but quickly decided to go to Old Lodge nature
reserve. It was another gorgeous evening and I think the pictures I took
illustrate this.
On the way home we saw a very young fawn on the side of the road lying on it's
back twitching. We immediately stopped and rushed to see if it was ok. It
stopped moving as we approached it and we feared the worst. However it wasn't
dead, so I quickly checked it all over and found no obvious injuries or broken
bones. I am pretty sure that it had had a close shave with a car and was just in
shock.
We could hear mum in the undergrowth, so we got it on it's feet and tried to
send it on it's way. It was still very wobbly, but we left it to sort itself
out. Hopefully it is perfectly alright now.
