Scrapbook ~ Wildlife walks throughout the year I took a slow amble around Rewell Woods to see if I could spot a Hawfinch. In 4 miles of strolling and searching I caught one fleeting glimpse. Just a split second of a russet coloured breast but nothing else. This species is proving to be my nemesis! However, it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed getting out of the house from where I have been convalescing. I'm on the road to recovery and what's more the bike is in good fettle too, so we belted about the place taking in the sights of the major flooding in the Arun Valley. Pulborough Brooks, Amberley Wildbrooks, Coldwaltham, Greatham and down to North Stoke is one vast lake. Not much use to man but lots of birds such as the over-wintering ducks and geese are loving it and Marsh Harriers and Buzzards are in their element. At Greatham bridge the water was up over the archway and cars were only just making it through. I didn't attempt the crossing on bike as I was happy to just park up and take in the view.
Take the time to read the countryside code for yourself and please stick to it at all times.
