Sussex Scrapbook ~ Wildlife walks throughout the year
Green Man
Saturday 19th July 2014
Lewes - Hamsey - West Chiltington - Blackcap - Lewes.
12 miles

It's Saturday, there's nothing going on with the Scout troop this weekend so Gill and I were free to go hiking. Continuing with our eastwards coverage of the South Downs we decided on the area North West of Lewes. One of our favourite churches is out at Hamsey so we decided to make that one of our route points but on the way we stopped at Malling church in Lewes. Instead of a bit of solitude we found it was having an open day for loads of primary school kids.
Hamsey church was far more quiet but sadly it is falling into disrepair with tiles falling off of the roof. Let's hope this wonderful ancient place can be repaired soon.

For some reason we do like a nice bit of rust!

Downland track approaching lewes.

We walked so far that we crossed a date line!

Possibly the oldest book shop in the world!

Take the time to read the countryside code for yourself and please stick to it at all times.
