Eastbourne to Cuckmere
We had a fantastic walk from Eastbourne to Cuckmere Haven via
Beachy
Head. This
is one of our favourite walks in Sussex as it is really scenic, has loads of
wildlife and plants to see and the walk is challenging too.
The South Downs Way is a long distance
footpath that stretches across the whole of Sussex. This part of it is the most
spectacular.
The chalk cliffs are the backdrop to the whole
walk. There are peregrines nesting on them and we got great views today. We saw
one feeding and when we checked out the poor pigeons carcass, we saw that it had
a ring. I had to cut it's leg off to retrieve it and it turns out that it was a
one year old racing pigeon. We informed the owner via the internet.
Meadowsweet
It was such a hot day! Not a cloud in the sky. The sea was like a mill pond.
Wild columbines
Finally we descended and walked along the River Cuckmere.
To our amber reward at the Golden Galleon pub! AAAAAH!
