Nature walks throughout the year

Eastbourne - Seven sisters - Exceat
6 miles
After a couple of weekends where we were busy doing other things, we found
ourselves with a weekend where we could get out and about again. Unfortunately
we couldn't think of anywhere to go, so we decided to just go to Eastbourne and
do the cliff walk again. On the way we had a quick stop at Arlington Reservoir
to search for ospreys (no luck as usual). As you know it was blisteringly hot,
but we had a great march over the Seven Sisters and had a swim at Cuckmere
Beach, followed by the customary pint of Stella at the Golden Galleon. It was a
really good walk as always and it cheered us up no end.

Desperately looking for migrating ospreys, but as usual we
were at the wrong place at the right time.

The sea was sparkly and the sky was blue and it was VERY
HOT!

There are loads of wild flowers blooming up on the downs
now, however the area is tinder dry.

The cliffs as always were stunningly beautiful and we even
saw one of "our" peregrines hacking past. We actually saw another racing
pigeon sitting stupidly on the edge of the cliff in "Peregrine
alley"! Will they never learn?

Think that this big flying beetle was a cockchafer.

Down through the Horseshoe Plantation to Birling Gap for
lunch.

By the time we got to Cuckmere we were well and truly
cooked. So a dip in the sea was called for.

I've put a picture of the bus timetable to help if you are
going to do the walk yourself. Click on the picture for a larger image. For the
time from the Golden Galleon pub subtract about 2 minutes from the time for
Exceat Park centre.
Just realised that the saturday afternoon timetable is the same as the weekday,
which means that I should have photographed the rest of the timetable. I will
get it next time. However, the buses come very regularly until late at night on
Saturdays and weekdays.
