Warnham Nature Reserve
A very cold, bright day
and a worthwhile visit to this little reserve on the outskirts of Horsham. Our
plan was to hunt out 3 species of bird: water rail, kingfisher and Cetti's
warbler. We quickly chalked up a water rail skulking in the reeds before
spotting something blue in a tree a couple of hundred yards away just outside
the hide. We rushed down there just in time to see our kingfisher fly away. We
got in the hide and waited to see if it would return. It did, and we got great
views of him. We even watched as he caught a fish. As is normal for birds, just
as you try to take a picture of them they get something between them and you.
So here is my partial picture.
