Sussex Scrapbook ~ Nature walks throughout the year
Green Man

Tuesday 2nd October 2007
Pulborough - Parham - Amberley - Pulborough
15 miles

A walk by myself from Pulborough Brooks, through Parham estate and up onto Springhead Hill saw me dodging lots of bad weather completely successfully. I walked along the downs to Amberley and then north through the Amberley Wild Brooks. I was deep in thought for most of the walk so probably missed all sorts of things today.

Shaggy inkcap (Coprinus comatus) also known as the lawyers Wig due to the way it looks when fully open.
This species is edible and tasty when young but when older the cap and gills dissolve into black ink leaving behind just the stem.
